WHAT IS DBT-A
DBT is structured therapy, using different therapeutic modes to help young people gain understanding of themselves, alongside skills to manage thoughts, urges and behaviours.
DBT-A is adapted specifically for teens and adolescents to bring about the best outcomes.
The treatment goals are to promote and maintain use of skills to manage emotional dyregulation, impulsive behaviours, and friendship difficulties.
-
WILL IT HELP?
DBT is really effective in treating adolescents, particularly those who struggle with symptoms such as self harm, suicide attempts, impulsive behaviours and intense, unstable emotions. In our DBT group and individual sessions, we have decades of experience treating teens quickly and effectively.
When adolescents finish our treatments, they are more in control of their emotions and behavioural urges (many teens no longer experience impulsive urges at treatment end!).

-
SELF HARM AND IMPULSIVITY
DBT is the gold standard treatment for managing self harm urges, and targeting the root cause of self harming behaviours.
-

Received a diagnosis of emerging personality disorder? Worried about your future? Then DBT is the treatment for you.
-
INTENSE EMOTIONS AND EMOTIONAL DYSREGULATION
If you struggle with intense emotions that come on quickly and take control, we can help. Learn skills to stop the cycle of your strong emotions.
“I also just wanted to say I’ve found the sessions incredibly helpful and I never thought I’d be able to get to a good place again. I’m glad I was proved wrong!”

ADOLESCENT DBT FAQs
-
At the initial assessment, we will set up a treatment package that is right for you! This will take into consideration school/college commitments, budget, and clinical need. Only want group or 1:1? We will ask your preference at the assessment and set up a treatment package right for you!

Studies have proven that online therapy is as effective as face to face therapy. Our clients tell us that online therapy is easier all round, with less travel time, and less time missing all important lessons and activities. We can even see young people from a confidential space at school or college!
-
We have a range of daytime, evening and week-end appointments to fit in with busy schedules. Worried about missing some school/college? We do ask you (or your teen!) to prioritise treatment during your time with us, but if this is not possible, our out of office slots will be perfect for you.
